The way we think about ourselves and about our bodies is framed by the entire culture. Wait… Why should the way that we think about our own bodies be determined by something that is fundamentally outside ourselves, someone else’s perspective – the image, words and language itself – that may not fully respect our humanity as women?
Image
Of course a huge thing that can degrade women is image. For instance, women are objectified in beer advertisements – turned into objects in order to sell beer. It may help sell more beer by associating alcohol with sex, but it also exploits women. Just look at the women here who are turned into cans of Coors Light.

Words
Words also can degrade women, even if that’s not their intent. For instance, some women have pointed out that the words bitch and slut are used rampantly on social media by women, such as the hashtags #totalslut and #outwithmybitches.
Language
Plus, language itself is not exactly pro-woman. Why, for instance, is it called a vagina rather than a cunt? “Vagina” is the polite, technical term, right? “Vagina” is a Latin word that means a scabbard, a “sheath for a sword.” By contrast, look at the word “Cunt.”
Its etymology is much more favorable. For instance, in Sumeria (ancient Iraq), Inanna was the goddess of love, war, lust, and fertility. Hymns from sacred Sumerian texts honored her sexuality and celebrated her beautiful cunt.
